The Circle of Love: Guidelines to giving good feedback
In all of my classes, you are required to give meaningful feedback to your classmates.
Here are some tips and tricks to making these feedback sessions worthwhile!
1. As the ARTIST have a question ready to ask about your work.
EXAMPLE: You bring your monologue to share. Before you read it out loud you ask: What emotions do you you hear in the monologue?
This way your peers can listen to your work with a focus which means they can give you focused feedback!
2. As a LISTENER/OBSERVER make sure you pay close attention to the question asked and to the work of art. You are more than welcome to offer an opinion about the question the artist asks.
IF you have ANOTHER opinion to offer, ask the artist if they would like to hear it.
EXAMPLE: After listening to the monologue you might say, " I think your monologue has anger and rage in it." This is an answer the the artists question. You may ALSO want to say "Have you considered adding a description of the setting to your monologue?" BUT before you do you ask the artist if they are open to suggestions!
